Daily Devotions

Today’s Scripture: “But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.” Luke 14:13-14, ESV 

Theme: Love people who can’t return the favor. 

Today’s Scripture: “He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him.” Luke 10:34, ESV 

Theme: The one who loved his neighbor “went to him” and “took care of him.” Let’s go and do likewise. 

Today’s Scripture: “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” I John 3:18, NIV 

Theme: It is good to talk about how to love people; however, it is better to take action to show our love for people hurting and needy. 

Today's Scripture: “Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and a day acceptable to the Lord? ‘Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?’” Isaiah 58:5b-6, ESV  

Theme: Sitting and mourning at home isn’t all that God desires from us; He wants us to exit the building, loose bonds, undo binding straps, and free the oppressed.   

Today's Scripture: “Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.” I John 2:6, NIV  

Theme: Jesus exited both heaven and the building to be the example of being about His Father’s business.
