Friday - PRONE TO DRIFT

Today's Scripture: “And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, so the Lord gave them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years.” Judges 13:1, ESV  

Theme: People repeatedly give in to evil and God lets them (and us) stray for a while. Though he was flawed, Samson was sent to Judge Israel and God used Him to deliver His people.

Thursday - TRANSFORMED BY GOD’S CALL

Today’s Scripture: “But the Spirit of the Lord clothed Gideon, and he sounded the trumpet, and the Abiezrites were called out to follow him.” Judges 6:34, ESV 

Theme: Gideon’s success in leading the Israelites was only because God provided power, confidence, and strength beyond his own.

Wednesday - THE SAME MISTAKE

Today’s Scripture: “And I said to you, ‘I am the Lord your God; you shall not fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell.’ But you have not obeyed my voice.” Judges 6:10, ESV 

Theme: The Israelites, like us, keep making the same mistake – fearing “gods” rather than obeying and fearing only God.

Tuesday - PREPARED

Today's Scripture: “Most blessed of women be Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, of tent-dwelling women most blessed.” Judges 5:24, ESV  

Theme: Jael, a humble, working-class, Gentile woman, heroically killed the elite General Sisera without hesitation or condition.

Monday - THE REDEMPTION CYCLE

Today's Scripture: “And she said, 'I will surely go with you. Nevertheless, the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.'” Judges 4:9a, ESV  

Theme: Barak fought Sisera’s army alongside Deborah, knowing that the victory of the defeat would not belong to him.
