Daily Devotions

Today’s Scripture: “You shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies and his statutes, which he has commanded you.” Deuteronomy 6:17, ESV 

Theme: Diligent attention to His commands is a sign of respect and honor for the LORD. Obeying His Word in turn brings us light and life. 

Today’s Scripture: “And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Hebrews 6:11-12, ESV 

Theme: Earnestness, not sluggishness, embodies those patient, faithful ones who inherit the promises. 

Today’s Scripture: “When I say, ‘My bed will comfort me, my couch will ease my complaint,’ then you scare me with dreams and terrify me with visions,” Job 7:13-14, ESV 

Theme: While there isn’t anything wrong with an occasional nap or rest, God doesn’t call us to hide away, seeking comfort and avoiding work or reality. 

Today's Scripture: “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!” Revelation 3:15, NIV  

Theme: Living comfortably lukewarm and apathetic is not acceptable to God. 

Today’s Scripture: “But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’” -James 5:6, ESV 

Theme: God is faithful to support and elevate the humble heart, but He rejects the proud.
