Daily Devotions

Today’s Scripture: “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!” Matthew 23:37, ESV 

Theme: Godly parents (and leaders) remain available and willing to comfort and protect their children, even when they are disobedient, hurtful, or unwilling to receive help. 

Today’s Scripture: “But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children.” 1 Thessalonians 2:7, ESV 

Theme: Godly parents care well for vulnerable or powerless children and treat them gently, just as good leaders do for the vulnerable ones in their care. 

Today’s Scripture: “And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7, NLT 

Theme: Live authentically in front of your kids or whoever is following you; talk about your faith, choices, and relationship with God. Let your devotion show consistently. 

Today’s Scripture: “I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth.” 3 John 1:4, NLT 

Theme: Godly parents (and leaders) prioritize spiritual growth and development – in their families’ schedules, finances, and intellectual pursuits. 

Today’s Scripture: “Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.” Proverbs 13:24, NLT 

Theme: Discipline is necessary, both displayed by a parents’/leader’s good example and in loving, patient training.
