Today’s Scripture: “And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts.” Acts 2:46, ESV
Theme: We need to be involved in a local community of believers where we can be known and loved for who we are.
SOMEWHERE TO BELONG
Sometimes, I think about the first time I walked into The Cove Church and the friendly faces and warm welcomes that made me feel at home. Week after week, I began to recognize familiar faces and I learned people’s names and professions. Over cups of coffee, you get to learn people’s stories and share your story: just two Christians sharing their love for the Lord. Then I joined a Life Group and a serving team. Fellowship with other Christians is so important. You get to share your testimony and see God at work in so many lives. You meet people who show unconditional love.
A FAMILY AFFAIR
Having small kids, it was important for me to find a church home. Cove Kids and Cove Students helped with showing my children what community is. They built relationships that went from the church to school, seeing those same kids in the halls. Now that they have grown up and moved away, I am blessed to know that the church is still a part of their lives.
IT’S MORE THAN A BUILDING
Church is not the four walls: it's the people. It is people who love the Lord and share in caring for and about people. Church is where Jesus followers break bread together, where Jesus followers serve together, where Jesus followers’ worship and pray together, where Jesus followers show love for one another.
THE BUILDING IS OPEN
Knowing what the church has done for me and you, why would you not want to share this with others? I invite people to church all the time because I know the power of fellowship, of prayer and of community. Church is where the seeds that have been planted are watered and grown. Why wouldn’t you want them to experience the love that you have experienced?
Make it Personal: Why church? Because as children of God, we are a community of believers here to do His will. What motivates you to join any community? Do you have that same motivation to attend and serve at a weekend service?
Pray: Dear Lord, we honor You for giving us another day to do Your will. We pray for those who have not found a church home. Help us to stay present and faithful in gathering in our church. Help us to encourage and bless each other whenever we are together. We are much better when we are together than when we are alone. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
