Tuesday - SOW THE SEEDS

SOW THE SEEDS

Rashawn Nance

Today's Scripture: “Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, ‘Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.’” Matthew 13:30, ESV

Theme: God will judge in the end; we are to encourage, build up, and pray for people now.

TILL THE SOIL

Our spiritual responsibilities can sometime feel overwhelming. The choice to stay quiet or to speak up can feel as difficult as trying to catch your breath after a sprint or intense sport. Will I be judged for my opinion or beliefs? At times, this world can feel unforgiving to the believer. Use this opportunity to lean into your faith and church community. You have been called to be a vessel for God's Word. Sowing the seeds is about more than just verbal communication. It's about more than singing or showing up at church. God will speak to you, so follow His lead. It may mean knocking on a stranger's door and witnessing to them about how good God is. It could also be as simple as mentioning God's grace in a social media post. Allow God to work through you to help others. When you allow God to use you, others can't help but notice. They will notice something different about you. How you talk, carry yourself, and how you handle demanding situations. Once you’re approached, that's when you know you have "sown the seed."

Our kids wear their Cove t-shirts to school once a week. Today we received a call from the vice principal praising us for how we have raised them. He spoke highly about their character and behavior. He was also impressed that, even with how harsh kids can be about religion or anything they may not understand, our kids wear their shirts anyhow. As I mentioned earlier, sowing a seed does not always mean sharing vocally. Live as God planned, and others will follow.

Make It Personal: As you reflect on the days, weeks and months that have passed, are there missed opportunities to sow seeds? Are there coworkers, family or friends that could’ve benefited from your guidance or beliefs? Challenge yourself by sowing a seed this week. Keep watering and tilling the soil to help nourish it so that it can grow.

Pray: In their time of need, allow me to be a blessing to others. Fill me with the wisdom and courage to share Your goodness and to hold steadfast. Clear my mind so that I can fully embrace Your presence. I want to be intentional in how I react, communicate, and go through my day. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
