Tuesday - HOW TO GET YOUR FACTS

HOW TO GET YOUR FACTS

Daphne Powell

Theme: God's Word is useful to instruct and inform us.

Today's Scripture: "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness." 2 Timothy 3:16, ESV

YOUR BIBLE IS YOUR GPS

When I get in my car, I instantly put the address into my iPhone Maps. Yes, even when I already know the way. Why? I think it’s knowing I will have the fastest route suggested, and the comfort of never being lost.

The YouVersion app provides the same direction in my daily life. It allows me to find a Bible verse, read a chapter, and compare different Bible versions. I can explore the Scriptures and find lessons that address something that I need extra help with. I find comfort in knowing that the Bible is always with me, at my fingertips, helping me to never get lost.

YOUR STUDY BIBLE IS YOUR “FAITH” GOOGLE

If I have a clogged sink, I use Google. If I need a recipe, I use Google. As a society, we rarely begin unfamiliar tasks without first checking with Google.

Study Bibles can do the same. I was given a Billy Graham Training Bible—and what a gift! It has topics that I can look up, containing words of wisdom and Bible verses that relate to the topic. I have a Woman’s Study Bible and a Rainbow Study Bible. Every topic is in the Bible: love, marriage, kids, finances, sickness, death, friendship, repentance, guilt, and any other issue you can imagine.  I am not trusting my salvation to Google or looking for absolute Truth there; the Bible is my source, my “go to.” As I grow in my faith, so do my study habits. It helps me to know God’s wisdom when I am looking for direction.

RIGHTNOW MEDIA IS MY YOUTUBE

I have found that my granddaughter doesn’t watch tv shows; she watches YouTube. And I wonder, “What is it about YouTube?” It's small chunks of whatever you are interested in with no commercials. I love RightNow Media. It’s my YouTube. I can watch various videos on people in the Bible, places in the Bible, and different topics like wisdom, money, and love. I learn so much … with no commercials!

HIS WORD

Prayer is powerful. Talking to Him is rewarding. But we must study His Word to become stronger. The Bible has 66 books, over 1000 chapters, and 31,000 verses. Every day, in every way, we should embrace His Word. The more we read His Word, the more we understand and grow.

Make It Personal: Go to God first. Easier said than done, I know. But what would your life look like if you went to God first? If before you react to something, you opened your study Bible to get God’s viewpoint of the subject. Instead of watching another drama, open Right Now media and watch a video. Finally, before you start driving, open your YouVersion app and set it up to read the Bible to you.

Pray: Lord, thank You for another day to get to know You more. Thank You for providing comfort, strength, and direction in Your Word. Help me to go to You first for all things.

and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105, ESV
