Tuesday - A LIFE OF WORSHIP

A LIFE OF WORSHIP

Bernadette Keene

Today’s Scripture: “But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.” Psalms 50:23, NLT

Theme: Worship costs us our preferences. When we thank God, even when our situation is not ideal, it is an honoring sacrifice of worship.

THE CALL TO WORSHIP

A call to authentic worship is a reminder that God seeks not just outward sacrifices, but hearts fully devoted to Him. Psalm 50 opens with God summoning the earth and His people to listen. It reveals a God who desires more than ritual; He longs for relationship, sincerity, and true devotion. This psalm challenges us to move beyond empty routines, inviting us to a deeper, more meaningful walk with Him.

If we are honest, and I know this is true of me at times, gratitude is not always our first response, especially in times of trouble or pain. Heartfelt gratitude is a decision, a sacrifice when life is challenging. When we choose to thank God despite our struggles, we declare our trust in His goodness and sovereignty. This kind of worship is pleasing to Him because it comes from a sincere, surrendered heart.

Our verse of the day, Psalm 50:23, says: “But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.” This truth shifts our understanding of what pleases the Lord. God is not impressed by empty gestures; He delights in genuine gratitude, especially when it is offered as a sacrifice. When we choose thankfulness—even when life is hard—we honor God in a profound way.

OBEDIENCE IS WORSHIP

Obedience is a daily offering we lay before the Lord. It is a living sacrifice—evidence of our love and reverence for Him. When we follow His commands, especially when it costs us something or challenges our comfort, we show that our devotion is real. Our obedience is not just duty; it is a response of love to the One who has saved us. We must stand guard against worship that is only skin-deep. Rituals without heart involvement become meaningless. God desires more than routine and tradition; He longs for relationship, for thankfulness that flows from deep within, and for lives shaped by obedience. True worship is not just about what we do in church, but how we live every day—with hearts of gratitude and hands ready to serve. Beyond just our words, our actions matter to God.

Make It Personal: The challenge for today is to begin practicing gratitude, especially when faced with difficult, painful, and uncertain circumstances and to live in obedience. When we do, we grow in holiness. Each small act of faithfulness, each moment we choose thankfulness, is a step closer to the heart of God. Holiness becomes a reality, not because of what we do outwardly, but because of our transformed hearts and minds.

Pray: Lord, Today, let us hear and answer Your call for true worship. May we live to offer the sacrifice You desire—a heart overflowing with gratitude and a life marked by obedience. In choosing thankfulness and following Your ways, we honor You. Let this be our worship, not just with our lips, but with our lives. In Jesus’ Name - Amen.
