WISDOM FROM ABOVE
Sarah Sloan
Today's Scripture: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5, ESV
Theme: We have unlimited information at our fingertips, but what we really need is God’s wisdom.
GOOGLE IT
I am a notorious “researcher,” which is just a fancy way of saying that I google the daylights out of literally everything. I can vaguely remember a time in our society before unlimited web browser abilities, but thankfully I’ve never had to live as an adult without it. I think I would be completely lost.
And to be honest, that very reliance is the crux of my issue. It’s so much easier to trust the “tangible” words on a screen, even if it’s just some random person’s review, than to rely on the still, small voice of God whispering into my heart.
RELY ON GOD
In a world full of noise, I find the ability to slow down, center myself on the Word of God, truly stop, and listen for His voice changes my reference point. Recentering myself in Him is the first step in being able to rely on the wisdom of God amidst the din of the world. In the light of what God has to say, all the research in the world becomes moot.
Make It Personal: How would God’s perspective on your issues change the entire trajectory of your story? Have you stopped to bring your issues to God, been still in His presence, and waited to hear what He has to say? Or have you asked your friends, family, and the internet? In your heart, do you truly believe that God’s outlook your issue is better than yours?
Pray: Lord, I want to slow down. I want to be in Your presence and sense Your words to me. Help me hear Your direction. Help me feel Your love. I trust You. Amen.
