CONFIDENT IN HIS WORD
Daphne Powell
Today's Scripture: “And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Philippians 2:8, ESV
Theme: Become obedient to God ... without limits.
SUBMISSION
The word submission alone brings fear and hesitation. But why? If we are confident in God’s promise, we should not fear submission but find peace in knowing that His will should be our will. When facing a storm, do we go to Him in prayer, wait and listen, then follow? The way we obey without limits is that we learn to go in prayer for all things, just not some. The way we obey without limits is that we listen and move in all things, not just some. He died on the cross for all our sins, not just some.
JOY
Do you wake up every day saying, “Thank You?” Do you go to sleep every night saying, “Amen?” If you are missing the joy in your life, it might be because we spend most of our day in the world and not with the Word. There are 66 books in the Bible, for us to learn about God and His Son and the Holy Spirit. The Bible is available to help us when we are in need, to make us smile and feel loved by the many miracles and blessings shown. When we are fighting His Word and embracing the world, we don’t get the full blessings of His grace and mercy. The way we obey without limits is that we live in the Word, not the world. The way we obey without limits is that we follow Him all the time, not some of the time. He died on the cross for all of us to have everlasting life, just not some.
LOVE THY NEIGHBOR
Being obedient to God is knowing His heart. Jesus walked this earth to show us that. He loved the poor, healed the sick, prayed for the wicked, and fed the hungry. Being obedient means we follow His example. When we judge, we are not obeying. We put rules and conditions on people, assuming we are showing them kindness; we exalt ourselves to a higher standard ,assuming it gives us the right to deem others unworthy of our love. If we follow Him, we will see a brother or sister in every person. The way we obey without limits is that we love everyone, just not some. The way we obey without limits is that we pray for everyone, just not some. He died on the cross for everyone, just not some.
Make It Personal: I have found that I am happier, that I am a better human being when I follow Him. When I see everyone as a child of God, how does that change my heart, the way I love others, and the way I share with and bless others?
Pray: Dear Lord, I pray that every day I accept the gift of life. Please help me to stay in prayer because I want to connect with You. I pray that I put in the effort to build my faith to be confident in Your word and to be obedient to Your will. Amen
