Thursday - BY FAITH ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE

BY FAITH – ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE

Carey Madding

Today's Scripture: “By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.” Hebrews 11:3, ESV

Theme: By faith we believe our God spoke the tangible from nothing – that faith changes everything.

CAN’T STOP GOD

A few weeks ago, Mike and I were in Egypt, speaking to pastors, building a playground, and visiting the children our Cove family sponsors. We saw success stories, new Kindergarteners having their first home visit, and unfortunately, some dire situations. One well-spoken, polite young boy named Martin told us of his dream: he wants to be a soccer star. If not that, then maybe in the ministry, or he might join the police force. He doubted if he could be a soccer star because Christians are discriminated against and overlooked in many sports programs. When asked about going to university, he again mentioned it is hard for Christians.

Mike felt strongly that God had a word for Martin: God is the One who promotes, and He can do that against all odds. Mike affirmed to Martin that all of God’s plans for him would come to pass if he was seeking God’s will. God can do whatever He wants! However, there is some responsibility on Martin’s part to remain in faith and hope by the Spirit (Galatians 5:5).

OUT OF INTANGIBLE

There have been times when we needed resources, or a staff member to fill a vacant position, or a specific financial provision. So many times, and in so many ways, God has –from seemingly nothing – brought the necessary funding, or the exact right person, or the answer to my need. When we cannot see a way, God can. He is our Way Maker. When we cannot find the funds, He is our Provision. He is able. Out of nothing, He can provide and promote. His favor is the only one that matters.

However, we must remain faithful. “So we are always of good courage. ...for we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:6a, 7, ESV). It is our responsibility to keep casting our cares and concerns on God, trusting that He will handle it. Our faith grows in these times of waiting and is emboldened when we see our Mighty God overcome for us.

Make It Personal: Where do you need to have faith? Where are you desperate for an answer? The Word of God is powerful. Faith in Who He is will be crucial. Confidence that He is on your side will give you hope. Remain in faith that the God Who spoke the world into being by His very Word can and will act on your behalf.

Pray: Lord God, thank You for being my Way Maker, my Provision, Healer, and Savior. You are all I need. And when I am up against an obstacle, You are able to move the mountain or create a way through it. In faith, I give my cares to You, knowing that You care about me and what burdens me. Thank You for loving me. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
