NO MATTER WHAT
Today’s Scripture: “I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:12-13, ESV
Theme: Following God with your whole heart does not guarantee carefree living. But your commitment honors God and He will reward you for it.
REMAINING
As God molded his life, Joseph decided to stay committed. Even after it seemed others had forgotten him, and as he was still waiting in jail, patience and perseverance helped him to remain committed. God can empower you, too, to remain committed when others let you down.
PROMOTED
Later Pharaoh had some dreams that no one could interpret. The butler finally remembered Joseph, who had interpreted his own dream a number of years before. Giving all credit to God, Joseph showed godly courage and sought to interpret Pharaoh's dreams. Pharaoh accepted Joseph's interpretation and rewarded Joseph's commitment by making him the Prime Minister of Egypt, second in command. If Joseph had given up his trust in and commitment to God during the hard times, such an opportunity might have never come.
Make It Personal: Even after you have committed your life, your purpose, or your resources to God, there will be troubles. It’s easy to remain committed when everything is going great. Are you committed to others (think spouse, employer, best friend) when things get tough? God asks for a total commitment, no matter what circumstances arise.
Pray: Father God, thank You for committing fully to me by sending Jesus to redeem me once and for all. Please help me to also commit to You in the season I’m facing. No matter what circumstances arise, I want to follow You with my whole heart. Give me the courage and the strength to follow through. I’m so thankful for Your unfailing love and everlasting commitment. In Your Name I pray. Amen.
