Friday THE LITTLE BIG THINGS

THE LITTLE BIG THINGS

Bernadette Keene

Today’s Scripture: “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.” Luke 16:10, ESV

Theme: Let every little thing show your faithfulness to God.

SEEDS

A mustard seed is a small round seed one to two millimeters in diameter. It does not look like much when held in the palm of your hand. One might conclude that this little seed is worthless. However, we should not be so quick to discount the power of this tiny seed. Upon germination and cultivation, this seed becomes an enormous tree that can reach as high as thirty feet upward with branches spanning twenty feet. When harvested, the properties of this mighty and beneficial seed can be used to aid in healing and strengthening our bodies. How clever our Creator is to use this seed to encourage us!

STONES

When my son was little, he loved to collect rocks. He is 29 years old now, but I still have his stone collection on display in my home. Some of the stones are smooth, and others have eye-catching details, tiny sparkles that shoot rays of light across my living room when the sun hits them right. I keep them because they remind me of him, but they are also a beautiful display of God's creation. One thing is certain, though – It would never cross my mind to use one as a weapon against an intruder. What could these little stones do to save me from my enemy? Yet David knew the value of small stones and, because of his faith, he trusted that the sling of a stone at just the right angle and velocity could bring down a giant, and that is just what he did!

Make It Personal: I must admit that there are times when I forget that small things matter. But the truth is, God cares about every aspect of our lives. He desires to be included in every little detail of life. “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives” (Proverbs 37:23, NLT). Oh, what joy it brings me to know that the Creator of the universe delights in me and in you!

Pray: Father, thank You for every little thing. If mustard seed faith can move a mountain and a stone can slay a giant, then I know I can trust You with all the little things in my life as well. Amen.
