Friday - STAY PUT

STAY PUT

Today’s Scripture: “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9, ESV

Theme: When God confirms your tasks, remain stubbornly committed.

HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT

When Paul first went to the cosmopolitan city of Corinth, he had plenty of reasons for writing the city off as a place where few could be won to faith in Christ. Corinth was in many respects like the modern city of Las Vegas. Close enough to Athens to be the proving grounds of each new philosophy, the Corinthians found a way to channel each idea towards sensuality. Any message that included the word "repent" was not going to find a welcoming and receptive audience there. In a place where paganism reached its lowest point, a preacher of righteousness could expect strong opposition, even bodily harm.

REMAINING COMMITTED

It may be because Paul was considering moving on to another town that Jesus reassured him that the Gospel was going to be successful even in Corinth. One thing about Paul: whenever he knew for sure what the Lord wanted him to do, he stuck to it like glue. Paul was fully committed and sold out to the risen Jesus.

Make It Personal: What is one thing you feel God has told you to do? Remain committed to that, no matter how difficult it seems. Ask God to encourage you through His Word, through other believers, by His Spirit, or through a vision or circumstances. He is able to reassure you that you are on the right track and empower your commitment!

Pray: Lord, thank You for giving each of us specific roles in this life. Help me to know my position and job; and help me to stick with it. Please confirm my commitments and callings so that I can stay put with confidence. In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.
