Friday - SEEING THE IMPOSSIBLE

SEEING THE IMPOSSIBLE

Daphne Powell

Today’s Scripture: But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’” Matthew 19:26, ESV

Theme: Every day, God is doing the impossible in our lives. Can you believe Him for that?

HIS PLAN FOR US

Doctor, lawyer, professional athlete? Is this what God wants for me? Of course, Jesus wants me to be the best me possible. But when we struggle to balance our checkbook or continuously get laid off, we feel “This can’t be His will for me.” To be honest, it isn’t. But we can’t just walk around every day and bump into blessings. He has given each of us a gift to use to bring glory to His name. Are we doing that daily? Once a week? Maybe never?

His plan for us means we must believe that He has made us worthy of His love, His grace, and His blessings; we believe that He has a beautiful plan and purpose for our lives. Don’t equate your home address or paycheck as a sign of His love for you or your value in His eyes. Rather, we must be in constant conversation with Him to know what His plan is. If we follow His plan, in the good times and the bad, all things are possible. We just have to look in the mirror and see the beauty He does.

THE PATH WE WALK

The alarm goes off and it is a new day. What do we reach for first? Is it the cell phone, the tv remote, the newspaper, or the Bible? Every day that Jesus allows us to wake up, we have another chance to get it right, to walk with Him. But so many of us walk alone. Do we not believe that if we let Him run our calendars that our days would be better? Do we not believe that if we pray to Him for the words we speak, every conversation would be better? Do we not believe that if we gave God control of our finances, He could and would provide for our needs? Every day, we can walk with Him. Every day, we can choose to believe Him when He says, “All things are possible.” We must look outside the window, see the beauty He created, and recognize He is still in control.

OBEDIENCE

Living the world’s way is easy. It’s comfortable to do and think what everyone else is doing and thinking. Following God must be intentional. We must obey Him. Every day, we have a chance to know Him better, to grow, and to become more like Jesus. Every day, we have the chance to be a light and example for others to follow. God gave His only Son to die on the cross for us...and for YOU! What more do we need to know His love for us? We have to look at our relationship with Him and see the beauty we are missing.

Make it Personal: It took time to get there, but now I give God all the glory for all the things, good and bad, trials and successes, in my life. I understand that it is only by His grace that I have what I have, and that any success I have is to be used for His glory, not mine. I see the little things, and the big, impossible things He has done in my life. And I know He can still do them. We always say the phrase, “Jesus, take the wheel.” I think we need see that He is the Way and “Car.” Get in and go along with Him, wherever He leads.

Pray: Dear Lord, I pray that the mountain I have before me today, I can give to You. That I would humble myself, not being the fixer but the believer. That I get on my knees and fully surrender to Your will. I trust You Jesus, because with You, all things are possible. In Your Name I pray. Amen.
