ALL THE FEELS
Daphne Powell
Today’s Scripture: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1, ESV
Theme: God Himself is our ultimate source of confidence.
SUNGLASSES
After giving Moses the Ten Commandments, the Lord also gave us clear wording on what is expected of us. We are to be in His light, His salvation, yet we put on shades. We want to interpret and customize the Commandments. Instead, following the Commandments shows Him that we are confident in His Word, that we are confident that if we follow Him, we will fear no mankind.
UMBRELLA
The Lord does not want us to fear Him, as in being afraid of Him. We do fear Him when we sin, then realize the result of sin is separation from Him. So, we put up our umbrella to hide from Him, as Adam did in the Garden of Eden. We get busy; we blame the world. But if we spend the time with Him and His word, the fear will wash away, and the confidence of His Word will take center place in our lives. Fearing the Lord (reverence and respect for Him) comes when we gain knowledge of Him through His Word and walk in obedience to Him.
WALKING IN THE SUN
The Lord is our teacher, doctor, father, mother, lawyer, friend, and accountant, He is everything … IF we truly show obedience. When you know that the Lord is your protector, there is a confidence that we have in ourselves, but not because of ourselves. We are a walking testimony to those who do not know Him or have a personal relationship with Him, because God is with us. They will see the light shining off us, not because we are living a perfect life, but a confident life, walking in the Spirit.
Make It Personal: Being confident comes from having a relationship with Jesus. When I wake up in the morning I PRAY; before I go to bed I PRAY. Throughout the day, I talk to God and let Him know how important He is to me. I know the mercy and grace given to me and I walk around every day in His light with confidence that the Lord is my Savior. Do you have a relationship with the Lord Jesus?
Pray: Lord, thank You for another day to get it right. Thank You for giving me the confidence to remove my shades and walk in the sun. Amen.
