Today's Scripture: “And the Lord said to him, ‘Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus. And when you arrive, you shall anoint Hazael to be king over Syria. And Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint to be king over Israel, and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint to be prophet in your place,’” (I Kings 19:15-16, ESV). 

Theme: We are not meant to carry on the work forever; we need to be training the next generation of leaders to replace us. 

Today's Scripture: “When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.” 1 Peter 2:23, ESV  

Theme: Loving like Jesus means refusing to retaliate and trusting God to judge.  

Today’s Scripture: “And Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’ And they cast lots to divide his garments.” Luke 23:34, ESV 

Theme: Jesus shows us how to generously love even the people who hurt us. 

Today’s Scripture: “But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.” Luke 14:13-14, ESV 

Theme: Love people who can’t return the favor. 

Today's Scripture: “So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24, ESV  

Theme: Jesus makes reconciling relationships a priority.
