Discussion Guide
This weekend we had the privilege of having Joe Sangl sharing with us. He shared how most of us are going through life with no protective wall. Just like the remnant of Jews in Jerusalem were living with broken down walls and no protection. Together we will look at what God’s Word says about our finances.
What you will need: A Bible or your Bible app, a notebook, pen, and highlighter. The verses highlighted below are linked so that you can easily access them during your study time.
Jump Start
1. Are you a saver or spender? Does the word budget cause you to cringe or bring you comfort?
2. Read Nehemiah 1:1-4. Why was the wall important for Jerusalem? How does this relate to our finances?
3. Read Nehemiah 2:10, Nehemiah 4:4-9. How did the enemy come against the Jews when they started a plan to rebuild the walls? What are some ways to be prepared when the enemy comes against your plans to honor God with your finances? Why is it so hard to give to God what is already His in the first place?
4. Read Nehemiah 6:15. How did the Jews accomplish this great task so quickly? What steps can you take to accomplish your goals of financial freedom?
Action Steps: Joe gave us the tools to succeed. This week ask God to help you to decide to handle money His way. Pray about coming to the 6-week “I Was Broke Now I’m Not” group starting Monday October 7th at 6:30pm. Maybe your whole group will come together.
